Fifth Finish for the Year

I finished pinning the layers of Old Town last weekend and this week I quilted it and hand stitched the back of the binding to the back of the quilt. Old Town was designed by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville. I made it as a single bed quilt, and here it is shown on a double bed

I almost forgot the label, but quickly grabbed one and stitched it into the binding. All that is left to do now is to embroider the details onto the label.

I started Old Town back in November 2024 and finished the top in February 2025. It has sat in my 'tops' pile until now. Which top should I finish next?

Fourth Finish for the Year and I Needed....

So pleased to get back into the sewing room, although I didn't quite know what I was going to sew after completing my fourth finish for the year. I quilted the Solstice quilt mostly by echoing the shapes. So what to do next - I have heaps of tops to quilt and heaps of projects to complete but decided I would make a paper serviette holder. 😆

I Googled some paper napkins patterns and they were all just variations of fabric boxes - that I have made before. So I started to plan my own. I started with 10" squares for the inside and the outside, and decided to pad the centre.

I quilted the bottom and then decided to add a strap to the top to keep the paper napkins from blowing away when we eat outside.

It was a little tricky sewing the strap in place, and I actually unpicked one side to place it better.

Very happy with the result, although next time I will make the squares a little larger, maybe 10.5".

Yesterday I sandwiched the three layers and this weekend I am going to quilt my 2024 Quiltville Mystery - Old Town.

What I've Been up to.

I started on the border of Old Town mystery quilt, and decided to continue to make the border by sewing it as leaders and enders. Being red, and red being the RSC of April I got my red scraps out ...
... I cut some squares for the border and some smaller squares for my squares stash box. Old Town will have to wait a bit now until I have enough of the red, and find some neutrals.

I have only been to a fabric shop once since the end of 2023, and that was because I ran out of neutrals. I've run out again, so will probably buy twice as much when I go again. It has been good using my stash though, as I really need to start to downsize.

I have been working on the Echo Triangle Quilt, slow and fiddly but I am sure it will look good when it is finished. I'm using the colours purple and teal with a black background.

I did miscount the number of pieces for the last block and had to make 4 extra blocks. However I ran out of the same purple so had to find one that matches.

I don't think it is too noticeable.

This months block was a little fiddly, and I only have two more to finish to be ready for May's block.

Well, that has been my last two weeks.
