I've been busy

Well I've worked out that I can't include widgets or symbols. I can insert pictures but can't resize them - ☆ hope I don't run out of space ¤

I started the holidays finishing off My House is my Castle. Not sure what I'll do with it now. Maybe a wall hanging or a child's quilt.  I did enjoy doing it and am getting good use to paper piecing.

Next I finished last years Bonnie Hunter's Easy Street. We did use it in the an unfinished with safety pins and basting but this week I had time to finish the quilt get the binding get on. It's now in the van waiting for the colder weather.

.... and then there was the Christmas presents and orders to fill. I love my embroidery machine. I made a few different mug rugs this year for Christmas.

Now I'm working on Bonnie Hunter's 2013 Mystery Celtic Solstice.

Been awhile....

Spare time is rare, so I make a choice to sew rather than blog. With the 'paid' job coming to an end for the year, I should have time to do both.

There are many new BOM's starting this time of the year, and in the new year. How many will I get started and finished ..... as many as I can. Of course, my version of finished is the quilt tops :)

I've started a new BOM called Sassy Cats. Vicki from Vicki's Fabric Creations has created this quilt from embroidery from BFC Creations. Vicki is also creating blocks to go with BFC free 10 Anniversary designs. I will start that one soon.
 Block 1
 Block 2

My Home is my Castle is almost finished.

Miss Cooper requested I make her a cow quilt - not sure why she wanted a cow quilt, she loves ponies, but here it is.

Now, however, it is all about Christmas. San Francisco Stitch Co has a five week block a week for Christmas. I was going to make multiple blocks to make a quilt, but really in Australia we don't use quilts much in Summer. Block 1 was a Christmas present.
The embroidery was interesting as I have not used this technique before. Really liked the effect.
....and then I decided to add a gift tag. Might turn some into Christmas mug rugs.

I also made some of different sizes.
That's it for now .. back to sewing

Christmas Santa Mats

Last year I made Christmas mug rugs for my friends and one young mum said that it would be good to lay out for Santa's milk and biscuits. Good idea! So this year I did a Google search for Santas Mug Rugs and found quite a few different designs. I made two - one for miss Cooper and one for Miss Ava. It was fun and didn't take too long to make :-)

Ribbons ready - I was going to use ribbons as the trees, but changed my mind - I will use them somewhere.

I decided to use some cut Christmas strings from the Christmas stockings I made the girls.

I then cut the triangle sections for the trees.

See I did find somewhere to use the ribbon.

I made a calico pocket and used the ribbon for the top decoration.
I wrote the words first then stitched over them.

Next - the quilting. I used gold thread, which is at times difficult to use as it breaks frequently, but all went well.

One finished.

Add a Santa letter and drink of choice.

Just keep sewing - just keep sewing....

It has been a lovely Easter Week on the Bellinger River - we have now moved further north and are on the Clarence River now. Of course we had to stop via Spotlight to pick up a few things, AND... there was a 40% off fabric sale, so I did have to get some more fabric ;-).
This week I hope to finish some projects - all except for the quilting - that will have to wait until I get home to my good machine. Here is what I've been up to.

The almost finished owl wall hanging

Making some Christmas Mug Rugs - yes I am starting early :-)

I love to hang up what I've made to look at.

This lovely quilt was made by a friends mother - I'm adding the sashing, binding and putting it all together.
I really like it and think I will have to make a similar one :-)
On my list!!!!

Christmas Material all put away - well most of it :-)

I've had a very productive last two days.

Finished all the Christmas presents; packed up the Christmas material; decided to do a new one day mystery
http://planetpatchwork.com/Mystery134/chipsnstripspart1.htm
; unpacked Christmas material - LOL

Decided Christmas material would be too busy for new mystery, but by then I wanted to make a Christmas quilt - so here it is.

Using one jelly roll and a panel, and adding a little more material, I can make two lap quilts or large wall hangings. (It's a little hot in Australia at Christmas to use lap quilts).

My sewing table

Christmas material is now packed up - well most of it and I'm ready to find material for Merry Mayham Mystery Quilt.

Then to continue with Orca mystery before next clue comes out tomorrow.
Life is good when one is on holidays.
