Rainbow scrap challenge colour for July was purple - a good challenge as I already had my purple fabrics out for my fairy quilt. Each month I get out my scraps, strips and crumbs of the colour for the month.I do tend to keep the crumbs in a small box, and the small fabric pieces (bigger than a crumb, smaller than a fat quarter) with the colour fabric, the strips are in tall clear containers on a shelf. First I sort through and cut any 1.5", 2", and 2.5" squares - these then go into boxes for that size. I then sew the scraps as leaders and enders, but sometimes will finish a day of sewing with just the scraps. Above are drink coasters made from the strips/string jar. Below is the next place mat for the round table.I continued on with the triangle log cabin type blocks. These are 6.5" blocks. I'm making 3 of each colour until I run out of triangles.
Sewing crumb blocks are a good way to use up smaller scraps. Last year I made some place mats with the blocks and kept the left overs.
I'm getting quite a collection of 6.5" crumb blocks now, they will make a lovely rainbow quilt.
The colour for August is aqua.
It's a cold rainy winters day here in Queensland and that means a good day for inside sewing and binge watching TV.
