How wonderful is Christmas? I love this time of the year. It's hot, sometimes unbearably so, and the days are long. I love going out to see the Christmas lights at night. I love wrapping the presents (not so much the shopping for them). Christmas in Australia is different to Europe and North America. It is good swimming weather. We like nothing more than grazing all day and swimming and watching a Christmas movie or three, in the cool of the air-conditioning of course. I did open the Christmas fabric box and made a few bits and pieces. I made another Christmas tree (from 52 tags) and turned it in to a Christmas decoration. I will make a couple more of these, maybe using the bunting design.
With the joy of Christmas, there will be no blog next week, and I will start the New Year with a blog and new sewing projects the week after.
This past week I have finished clue 3 of Bonnie Hunter's Rhododendron Trail Mystery
Adding wings to the half square triangles made in clue 1. Every year I run out of neutrals when doing Bonnie's mystery and this year will be no different.November's focus cutting EPP theme was fabric. Each week had a theme 44 - just because. This fabric started life as a pyjama top. My SIL found it for me when I was searching for animal fabric for the then fussy cutting sewalong, a few years ago.
46 was recent fabric. I haven't been to many fabric shops this year, many were closed while we travelled, and to be honest I didn't go unless I really needed something. This fabric I got about 5 months ago.
47 - proudest fabric. What is proudest fabric? I have projects that I'm proud of and they are made of many fabrics. I do like Tula Pink fabric but I've run out of that and this fabric sort of reminds of Tula's fabric, it is not. I do like the pattern it has made, and will make one or two variations to complete the quilt.
48 is freestyle and will be one of those variations mentioned above. 49 - 52 will be Christmas and will be 🤞on the next post.
The next two weeks I'll be completing mystery quilt clue 4; quilting a top (maybe 2), sewing a few small Christmas projects, hand sewing and even some Christmas cooking!! N.B. I don't like to cook ... but it is Christmas.
Merry Christmas Link Up Parties:
First of all, love your blog name, so true!! Also love your tree. This is the first year I've done a white one so I'm getting some tips from seeing yours. Those sweater coasters are too cute, is there a pattern? You are really moving along on "Rhododendron Trail" which reminds/nudges me: I've got to get back to working on one of the older mysteries I have in progress before the mystery seasons gets too far along!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vivian. Yes it was a big change to go from green to white Christmas tree, but we are glad we did it. after Christmas each years I would buy greatly discounted tree decorations of my favourite colours - pink purple and teal/blue, until a couple of years ago when I had enough to decorate the tree, I made my own pattern for the ugly sweater coasters. I should have it 'somewhere' will post it when I find it. Think it is in my Christmas fabric box.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family Allison, hope you have a wonderful day. Its been such fun following both your quilty adventures and your trips away through the year. We are off with our caravan to have several days with my daughter and family over Christmas then will travel on for another week, we think.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and Robin too Jenny. We are not off in the caravan until end of January - all being well. Travel safe.
DeleteYou've been sew busy! The sweater coasters are really cute. I too am always short on neutrals and never seem to have enough for Bonnie's mystery quilts. I have to make more of an effort to pick up neutrals when I go fabric shopping. Have a very merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you Quiltpiecer. Yes always need neutrals. Have been collecting greys, which look good on most blocks.
DeleteHi Allison, I love your Ugly Sweater block (I just bought the pattern but probably won't make it this year...but who knows!) Your EPP blocks are lovely. Looking forward to seeing the others. Enjoy your Christmas - your weather is what we dream of...of going down south but it sure won't happen this year. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Andree, yes we like the heat when it is cold, but like the cold when it is so hot LOL. We enjoyed travelling UK in winter and even spent two Christmases in Scotland - 10 years apart! Merry Christmas.
DeleteI kinda laughed when you said hot... then I remembered where you are! That must feel a little strange to watch US movies with all the snow while you are sweltering! Love your tree!!! and we could be a pair - I like to shop but not wrap.... we could team up!!!
ReplyDeleteWe'd make a great team. Many Christmas movies have snow, and even here in Australia some of our decorations have 'snow' on them - including Christmas Cards. Weird. Have a great Christmas Alycia.
DeleteI love your bags and the coaster, so cute. Not sure if I would prefer the heat over the cold at Christmas. Years ago I might have said heat but hot flashes are kicking my but so I'm happy with the chill. Thank you for linking up to Put your foot down. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteLOL - know that feeling. air-col and cool pool help - not a fireplace to be seen LOL. Merry Christmas.
DeleteSuch a fun post! Love those ugly sweater coasters and that tag is gorgeous! Your epp fascinates me, especially with how you meet each challenge. Thanks for sharing on Wednesday Wait Loss. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jennifer. Hand sewing is so calming. Merry Christmas.
