Busy week

This week I decided to add another border to the Simply Colourful Brown Bag Mystery quilt. I had run out of some of the suggested fabric, so substituted a pink, that had already been used in the quilt and a teal fabric. Looks so good!

And Sew Foxy Mama's 100 Hexies in 100 days. We are up to week 11, and the theme is "I Spy" - guess I may be doing some fussy cutting - like I haven't already 😊.
Week 4 - wishes
Week 5 - big and small
Week 6 spots and strips - but I chose spots, as that was the fabric I had.
 Week 7 - floral
Week 8 - travel - gee I wish I had chosen travel places, maybe I still will?
Week 9 was woodland and last week, week 10 (below) was in the sky.
I have completed week 9, but neglected to take a photo.
I also finished the new Simply Colourful Mystery by Colour Wheel Quilts, Scrappy Square Dance top. I decided to make two lap quilts (baby quilts). One is for my new granddaughter, due in February, so I still have a few months to quilt and bind it.
Also on the go is the continuing Moda Blockheads.
I'm still behind, but getting there - and there is no rush.

  1. You have really been busy. I like your fussy cut hexies with themes. Such a good idea to keep it interesting. I haven't gotten on the hexie bandwagon yet, and probably won't since I already have too many UFOs. It's fun to see what others are doing though. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi Dar, I think having UFO's is great ... always something to do LOL!!! I started doing hexies when I was a teenager and was re-introduced recently. I like the fact that I can do some sewing at any time without thinking about fabric choices, design, size etc. Saying that, I may end up with a box of a thousand hexies.

  2. PS I was just looking through your blog and noticed your sewing machines tab. I think I may have a Singer Model 27 treadle machine too. I am now excited to check mine more closely and see where they are similar. Mine did not come with a coffin cover on it, so I really know nothing about it yet. Thanks for such great pictures and descriptions.

    1. How exciting. 'Sew' your machine doesn't fold down into the cabinet? Maybe we can restore it 'together' - and that will keep us on track.

  3. Plenty of sewing happening at your home - you are doing very well!

    1. Ah Jenny, you know sewing is my calming activity. Do it every chance I can. WE are off to NZ soon on a cruise and I'm taking my hexies with me.

  4. How exciting - where will your stops be? Probably too difficult to hope to meet up as we are traveling down to the South island in two weeks for a loooong caravan holiday.

    1. Very exciting. How long will your holiday be? New Zealand is such a diverse country. Peter prefers the South Island, where as I prefer the North.
We are off in the van early January for about 3 weeks than home for the birth of our fourth granddaughter, and away again about March.
We love cruising and often don't even get off the ship. 2/12 Bay of Islands; 3/12 Tauranga; 4/12 Auckland; 6/12 Picton; 7/12 Wellington; 8/12 Akaroa; 9/12 Dunedin. Then cruising the sounds and back to Sydney. 15 days of being pampered, then back to saving for the next one LOL.
